Register Wireless Devices in the GALEN/LIAS System

Follow the instructions below to obtain your computer's network adapter address and register it in the GALEN LIAS (Laptop Internet Access Service) System. The network adapter address or Physical Address is also known as the MAC address or Media Access Control address.

Instructions for Windows XP with SP2 (Click here if you have Mac OS X.4)

  1. Open a "Command Prompt" window by clicking the Start button, then click Run. Type "CMD" in the dialog box and click "OK."
  2. In the Command Prompt window, type ipconfig /all.
  3. Look for the label Physical Address... for Wireless Network Connection. The numbers and letters next to is is your network adapter address. In the example below, the network adapter address, physical address is 00-02-2D-21-D0-8F.



  4. Write down your network adapter address for the next step.
  5. Dismiss the Command Prompt window by typing Exit and press Enter.
  6. Click here to create/modfy your GALEN Electronic Services Account.

Instructions for Mac OS X.4

  1. At the Macintosh desktop, click on the Apple icon at the upper left hand corner of the screen. Select System Preferences.
  2. In the System Preferences window, click on the Network icon. Select the device you wish to configure in the drop down (Wireless). The Network Adapter address is listed in the bottom of this window.

Create/modify your GALEN Electronic Services Account

Log on to GALEN and modify your account to include your Network Adapter Address. When you enter your Network Adapter Address, you must put dashes between the numbers (e.g., 00-90-96-b5-38-bc).


If you don't have a GALEN Account, create one now. The registration of your Network Adapter Address will be effective in 20 minutes.
