Access to Wireless Networks at San Francisco General Hospital (SFGH)

Introduction

The School of Medicine, working in conjunction with the Department of Public Health (DPH), provides wireless services to UCSF faculty, staff, and affiliated parties of the University at SFGH. Listed below are the various types of wireless networks that are currently offered. By accessing these networks, users are agreeing to comply with the University of California Electronic Communications Policy.

• UCSFguest - The UCSFguest wireless network is available to UCSF affiliated visitors of the SFGH campus who need access to the web. No client configuration is required. This network will provide limited access to UCSF campus and Internet resources. UCSF faculty, staff and students should utilize the protected UCSFwpa network for full access to campus resources. • UCSFwpa - This wireless network provides encrypted access to all UCSF network resources and the Internet. A MyAccess account is required to authenticate to this wireless network.
• UCSF-Clinical - This wireless network provides encrypted access to DPH clinical resources at SFGH, UCSF network resources, and the Internet. A MyAccess account is required to authenticate to this wireless network.

Connecting to the UCSF Wireless Networks

Minimum requirements:

• Windows XP SP2 with Wireless Hotfix installed, the updated Entrust Certificates installed and 802.11b/g/n wireless network interface

-or-

• Macintosh OS X.4 and 802.11b/g/n wireless network interface

UCSFguest
No configuration is necessary. However, this network
is not as secure as the above two wireless networks.

Contact the ITS Customer Service at (415) 514-4100 option 2 to troubleshoot your MyAccess/VPN account (including password resets and creating new accounts).
